Karen Rotherham-Egan

Karen Rotherham-Egan is the founder of Skillet & Spice, a growing Irish food business based in Co. Carlow. She launched the brand with a passion for creating easy-to-use seasoning blends that bring bold flavour and texture to everyday meals, taking inspiration from international food trends and adapting them for Irish kitchens.

The Skillet & Spice range includes hand-blended, all-purpose seasonings such as its popular sesame seed-based “Everything” blends, combining ingredients including sesame, poppy seeds, garlic, onion and sea salt. Designed to be versatile, the seasonings can be used across everything from eggs, pasta and chicken to roast vegetables, wraps, baked potatoes and sandwiches.

Karen has grown Skillet & Spice through markets, festivals and retail, building a brand centred on flavour, creativity and convenience. Her journey as an Irish food entrepreneur has also seen her take part in events such as the National Ploughing Championships and the Ballymaloe Festival of Food, where she has shared the story behind the brand and her approach to product development and flavour creation.
