Matthew Brownie, better known as “The Kiwi Culchie”, is the chef, entrepreneur and personality behind The Skibbereen Food Company. Originally from Whanganui, New Zealand and now firmly settled in Skibbereen, West Cork, Matthew has more than 26 years’ experience as a professional chef and has built a distinctive food brand around bold flavours, fun ideas and great Irish produce.

Through The Skibbereen Food Company, Matthew has developed a growing range of innovative snacks including Scratch My Pork pork crackling, Pork Crunch, Nibbly Wibbly’s, air-dried steak and Don’t Touch My Coconuts. His products combine creativity with convenience, with several ranges focused on high-protein, gluten-free and on-the-go snacking.

As “The Kiwi Culchie”, Matthew also shares his love of cooking through easy, approachable recipes inspired by both West Cork and his New Zealand roots. His lively personality and passion for food have made him a familiar face behind the brand, bringing a distinctive ‘Down Under meets West Cork’ flavour to everything he does.
